About the Owner/Instructor

Rick Travis sensei has a combined 20+ years of experience in martial arts and has been instructing for the last 15 years. Travis sensei started karate at age five with his father. He is a US Army veteran where he also studied Military Martial Arts. He has had the good fortune to train with many influential karate masters from both the United States and Okinawa.

Travis sensei is a member of the Shorin-Ryu Karate/Kobudo Association (SKKA) and a student of Hanshi Eihachi Ota who is the founder and president of SKKA. Shorin-ryu Karate | Okinawa Shorin-Ryu Karate | United States

Travis sensei is a 4th degree black belt with the teaching title of Renshi under the Shorin Ryu Karate Kobudo Association (SKKA). He is also holds a 4th degree Black Belt under the World Okinawan Shorin Ryu Karate Kobudo Association (WOSKKA) as well as a 4th degree under the American Teachers Association of the Martial Arts (ATAMA). Travis sensei has been vetted and registered with the World Registration of Black Belts, Organizations and Federations (WRBBOF). 

He has worked in the education field for over 30 years and specialized in working with at-risk youth and their families. He brings his many years of experience working with youth and families to his dojo.

A well-known and respected member of his community, Travis sensei often offers his time and donations to youth programs throughout the year.
